Beijing | In November, it is advisable to visit Beihai Park to see the lake and autumn scenery
During the golden autumn, Beihai is in its most colorful period, with colorful leaves, ancient garden buildings, and clear water with remaining lotus, forming a brilliant and colorful unique autumn scene. Jingxin Studio is quiet and elegant, Xitian Fanjing Temple is majestic, the Nine-Dragon Wall is exquisitely unparalleled, the Five-Dragon Pavilion winds over the water, Xiaoxitian is golden and brilliant, and so on. Everywhere in the north of Beihai is a scenic spot, and there is also the leisure under the roots of the imperial city. Local residents gather in groups, practicing Tai Chi next to the Nine-Dragon Wall, and dancing under the ginkgo trees. Don't miss the lakeside benches before leaving the north bank, it's a happy thing to rest or daze with the lake and autumn scenery. Then take a boat on the lake, go to Jionghua Island to climb the White Pagoda and look at the scenery, descend from the south, look back at this towering white pagoda on Yongan Bridge, and then go to see the brilliant Tuan City. If you have enough time, Jingshan Park is not far away. At sunset, you can look west from the top of the mountain, and it is another beautiful view of Beihai. 🚶♀️ | Route reference: Enter from the north gate - Jingxin Studio - Xitian Fanjing - Nine-Dragon Wall - Five-Dragon Pavilion - Xiaoxitian - Jionghua Island - Tuan City - Exit from the south gate

Bright Beihai Park
The Beihai park is one of my favorite places in Beijing. It’s always nice to stroll around and take in the views and have a break from the city life. It’s also very fun to rent a small (pedal)boat to cruise around the lake. There are great walking paths with many benches around and a few colorful and serene temples to visit. You can also hike to a higher point for a view over the lake. There are many facilities (toilets, little shops, food/snacks/drinks etc) around. Great for young and old. ##Beihaipark ##lake ##boats ##temples ##relaxing

The Beautiful Beihai
#visitbeijing #tripblazers #urbanexplorer
A beautiful place to visit on a warm afternoon in Beijing is Beihai park. Just in between the Drum tower and Imperial Palace is where this green space is situated. We loved spotting all the old palace structures dotted around the park, and even got to find the hidden 9 dragon tablet which is tucked away in some trees. Climb up to the Tibetan style mountain tower for a beautiful view of the forbidden palace.
The park is only 5 yuan entry in off peak season (but still only 10 yuan per person in peak season starting in April) we highly recommend a visit.

BEIHAI PARK | Beijing
A beautifully windy afternoon at the BeiHai Park.
Getting There - I took bus number 128 from CiQuKou Metro station bus stop to BeiHai Park Bus Stop.
Attractions - Everywhere you turn there is something new and even more beautiful to see.
Shopping & Food- In the park I saw a gift shop where you can get souvenirs and there were also 2 restaurants from what I saw. There was also a small shop where you can get drinks, snacks and those ice creams that are shaped like the pink spring flowers in the park.

The other side of Beihai Park
You may have heard of Beihai Park with its huge lake and white stupa. It's a beautiful park but very busy with tourists and locals. When you buy your park ticket don't forget to visit the temples and rooms near the entrance.
It's not obvious, but up up some stairs to the side you'll find a calm area with a handful of beautifully decorated buildings. We went during golden week and it was deserted, in contrast to the park. There are lots of picturesque spots here to take photos or enjoy your lunch.

calm oasis just in the middle of the city
Entrance is 10¥ and if you are a foreigner, you need to call in advance on number: 6403 7972 to make an appointment.
They will ask you for your passport number and name, also gate which you will use to enter. I recommend to enter by the South Gate, when you bet there go to the office on the right side of the entrance to pick up your ticket. Tell them when sis you call if yesterday or today to make reservations, it will help them to search your name. Also sometimes they speak English, but it’s better to ask your Chinese speaking friend to make the call.
After entering you have all this beautiful, calm and clean park to explore, watch elderly people in their rituals or enjoy a boat ride. Half an hour on a shared boat with 7 people is 40 yuan.
Tip come during the sunset, for an extra heart warming experience.

Beihai park, Beijing
This might be my favourite place to go any time of the year. Flowers in the spring, snow and ice in the winter, leaves changing colour in autumn and just beautiful in the spring. A ticket is only about ¥5 which means I don’t feel bad going back frequently and every-time I go I see something new or at least it looks new because the environment has changed. It’s not far from the trains or downtown so it’s easy to get to and find dinner after. If you wanted a full day there is plenty to see in the area as well but if you wanted to you could simply spend the whole day no problem. I love the white pagoda from all angels and I have 100 photos to prove it! #thisischina

Let us row a Boat at Beihai Park.
The first time I learned about Beihai Park was because of a song I heard in my childhood, Let's scull... and from a textbook about Beihai Park in elementary school.
At that time, I knew that there is a Baita Temple in Beihai Park. Beihai Park is behind the Forbidden City. There are two gates one in the north and one in the south. If you want to go to Baita Temple, you should go to the South Gate. However, the North Gate will take you to the White Pagoda Temple. Beihai Park is very large, serene and quiet. In addition to the Baita Temple, there are also some other ancient pavilions and plaques around here. The most tourist here are elderly or people with children.

Lotus Charm Reflecting Summer Light Potted Lotus Display at Beihai Park
The capital has experienced continuous high temperatures, but the waterside of Beihai Park is cool and comfortable in the early morning. Under the ancient trees, a signboard with the slogan 'Lotus Charm Reflecting Summer Light' marks the beginning of another Beihai Park Lotus Festival. In front of the Five Dragon Pavilion and Chanfu Temple, potted lotuses are in full bloom. Especially in front of the Five Dragon Pavilion, lotus screens are arranged, with vibrant lotuses dancing in the wind, surpassing those in paintings. On the steps in front of Chanfu Temple, with its yellow glazed tiles and painted red walls, potted lotuses are placed, showcasing the ancient charm and natural beauty with their green leaves and delicate flowers. Display boards in the Five Dragon Pavilion introduce the various types of lotuses in Beihai Park, many of which are new varieties cultivated over the years within the park.
This year's Lotus Festival at Beihai Park has already begun, with large lotus ponds located between the South Gate and East Gate.

The first batch of lotus flowers in 2024 at Beihai Park in Beijing
Address: No.1 Wenjin Street, Xicheng District, Beijing
Centered around Beihai, the park was the site of a palace during the Liao, Jin, and Yuan dynasties, and was turned into an imperial garden for emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties, belonging to the ancient Chinese royal gardens.
Beihai and the Round City were announced by the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China in 1961 as part of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units. Beihai Park is also a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
Starting from mid-June each year, the lotus flowers bloom, displaying various postures interlaced with lotus leaves, creating a beautiful and harmonious blend in a fragrant and fresh world.
The history of planting lotus in Beihai is long-standing. Historical records indicate that during the Tang Dynasty, the area around Beihai was part of Longdao Village in Lixian Township, northeast of Youzhou City, where local residents took advantage of the many lakes in the area to cultivate water fields for growing rice and lotus. During the Jin Dynasty, 'the lakes were dredged and gradually formed a scenic area called Bailiantan. Bailiantan was filled with lotus flowers, and the pond was home to fish and birds. The morning sun shone on the waves, reflecting the sky, and the green lotus exuded fragrance. Fish and birds swam among them, and boats were interspersed in between, creating a truly beautiful scene...' This shows that the cultivation of lotus in the pond began as early as the Tang Dynasty.
The lotus flowers in the photo are near the north gate, where the lotus is relatively concentrated, and July is the peak blooming period.

Morning at Beihai Park, Beijing
At six o'clock, along with the bustling tourists, I enter Beihai Park. The tall White Pagoda stands on the beautiful Qiong Island. The lake is calm, with dense, plump lotus leaves huddling together, and occasionally a lotus flower blooms ahead of the others. Fluffy white clouds adorn the azure sky, as the ancient poem goes, 'White clouds ascend the distant peaks, swaying into the clear sky,' adding a touch of moving color to the royal garden. The morning in Beihai is tranquil and elegant, with locals speed walking, practicing Tai Chi, and walking birds... a scene of serenity. Some say that for visitors from outside the city, the best way to start touring Beijing is by visiting Beihai Park in the early morning.
Now, at the entrance of Beihai Park, there is a 'Cloud Listening to Beihai' automatic audio guide rental kiosk, priced at 29.9 per unit, as convenient as renting a charger.
Beihai Park opens at six in the morning during the summer. Some gardens within the park are closed on Mondays.

Beihai Park/A place related to childhood memories
Beihai Park is the earliest built, most completely preserved, and most culturally profound classical imperial garden in China's history. It has developed through the Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, embodying the culmination of garden culture and art of past eras.
Beihai is located in the central area of Beijing, China, separated from Zhongnanhai by only a bridge. A must-see attraction in Beihai Park is the visit to the rich and colorful cultural relics, the appreciation of the unique garden art, and the beautiful and picturesque lake and mountain scenery.
Once, the scenery of the White Pagoda in Beihai, the bookmarks, postcards, and photos influenced a generation. Their impression of the capital Beijing, besides Tiananmen, was the White Pagoda of Beihai. Seeing the White Pagoda again rekindles that frame of eternal memory deep in the heart.
Walking by the lake, a familiar melody suddenly floats up from the heart:
Let us row the oars
The little boat pushes through the waves
The lake surface reflects the beautiful White Pagoda
Surrounded by green trees and red walls
The little boat gently drifts on the water
A cool breeze blows in the face~~
Let's go boating...

Exploring the Timeless Beauty of Beihai Park
#familytrips2024
Beihai Park was formerly an imperial garden, now opened for public. It is very near to the Forbidden City in Beijing. Beihai Park is said to be among the largest of all surviving Chinese gardens and has many historically important structures, palaces and temples.
One thing that captures me and my family attention when we enter the park is the vast, tranquil lake that reflects the sky and surrounding landscapes, creating a picturesque setting. In the lake there are numerous of beautiful mandarin ducks swimming gracefully in pairs. It is such a pure delight to immerse ourselves in such dreamy landscape.
While from the lake, you could see the park most iconic landmarks ~ the White Dagoba, a Tibetan style stupa. They said the stupa stands as a symbol of peace and harmony, yes we need that 😊.
As we stroll along, we came across several historic pavilions and temples that showcase the traditional Chinese architecture and cultural heritage.
Beihai Park is also a beautiful landscaped garden that features a rich variety of plants and seasonal flowers. My mum and aunty are so attracted by the floral blooms around the park.
Beihai Park is an easy to walk around park especially for the elderly. The serene pathways are such a beauty that will make you forgot about the time. It is a perfect place for relaxation and reflection. Do not give this destination a missed if you are travelling to Beijing.

Always happy to be back to any kind of park in Beijing. This time I visited Beihai Park, a family-friendly and huge park in the central area of Beijing. Came here on the weekend, and it was not that packed with visitors. It was relaxing and calming. Spend at least one and half hour to stroll around the park and lake.
How to reach the attraction:
Take Beijing city bus number 124, stop at Beihai bus stop. Walk 2 minutes to South Gate Entrance.

Summer Breeze in Beihai Park
One of the best landmark to visit in the central area of Beijing. The name is Beihai Park. This park is located close to Jingshan Park, Shichahai, and Forbidden City. You can come with your family here to relax and learn about the history of it.
The best time to come here is after 17.00 PM in the afternoon (on summer). Spend at least 1.5 hours to explore this area. Walk around and sit by the lakeside, also witness the beauty of sunset here!

A great place to enjoy the lake and mountain scenery, and to gaze upon the white pagoda
"Wulong Pavilion" is located on the north shore of Beihai Park. The site was originally the location of the Taosu Hall built in the 30th year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1602), and was rebuilt into five lakeside pavilions in the 8th year of the Shunzhi era of the Qing Dynasty (1651), becoming a place for the emperor, empress, and their close officials to fish and admire the moon. Wulong Pavilion extends into the water with a well-arranged layout, consisting of the central Longze Pavilion and the surrounding Yongrui Pavilion, Fucui Pavilion, Chengxiang Pavilion, and Zixiang Pavilion on both sides. All five pavilions are square-shaped, connected by bridges and white marble railings in an S-shape, resembling a giant dragon, hence the name: Dragon Pavilion. In 1900, Wulong Pavilion was damaged by the Eight-Nation Alliance, but it was restored in 1974.

Beihai Park, Tuancheng
Beihai Park's Tuancheng is not large in size, but it is rich in treasures.
Chengguang Hall is the main building of Tuancheng. During the Yuan dynasty, it was known as the Yitian Hall. It was rebuilt in the Ming dynasty and renamed Chengguang Hall.
Inside the hall, there is a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, commonly known as the White Jade Buddha. Legend has it that during the Guangxu period, Monk Ming Kuan brought it from Myanmar as an offering to Empress Dowager Cixi. The jade statue of the Buddha has a kind and serene face, with a body pure white. The crown and the folds of the robes are inlaid with red and green gemstones, dazzling to behold.
In front of the hall, there is a courtyard where the Dushan Great Jade Sea is placed. It is said to be a wine vessel specially made by Kublai Khan, the Great Khan of the Yuan, to reward his soldiers.
There are many ancient trees in the courtyard, among which two are the most remarkable: one is a white pine and the other is a black pine, both planted during the Jin dynasty and respectively honored by Emperor Qianlong with the titles 'White Robe General' and 'Shade Marquis'.

Beihai Park Huafangzhai
Beihai Park's Huafangzhai is serene, with a pond at its heart and corridors on all four sides.
The plaques of Huafangzhai and Chunyulin Tang are both inscribed by Emperor Qianlong's hand, such pleasant names.
In the northeast corner of the courtyard, there is a cross-yard, the Guke courtyard, oh my~ The courtyard is exquisitely small and incredibly nice, with winding corridors and various flower windows, Taihu rocks piled up interestingly, the moon gate elegant and tranquil, and most of all, the thousand-year-old Tang locust tree in front of the Guke courtyard, with its lush branches and leaves, is a treasure among treasures.
There is another cross-yard in the northwest corner of the courtyard, which is not yet open.

Beihai Park features a 'one pond, three hills' layout, a royal garden that incorporates the best of various styles
Beihai Park, the oldest royal garden in Beijing, not only has a history of over 850 years but also stands out for its adherence to the 'one pond, three hills' garden structure of Chinese imperial gardens, which has been preserved to this day. Therefore, when visiting Beihai Park, seeing the 'one pond, three hills' is a must.
During the Liao and Jin dynasties, the royal garden pattern of 'one pond, three hills' began to take shape. 'One pond' refers to what is now known as 'Beihai, Zhonghai, and Nanhai'; 'three hills' refers to Tuan City, Qionghua Island, and Ying Tai, which is located in Zhongnanhai, and can be seen by visitors as soon as they enter the park from the south gate.
The artistic creation of 'one pond, three hills' comes from the paradise described in the ancient mythological story 'The Legend of the Western Queen Mother'. It is said that there are three immortal mountains to the east of the Bohai Sea, named 'Penglai', 'Yingzhou', and 'Fangzhang', where immortals live and possess the elixir of life. During the Qin dynasty, Emperor Qin Shi Huang sent Xu Fu with children to search for these 'immortal mountains' across the sea to find the elixir of life. After failing, he built a hundred-mile-long pond in Lan Chi Palace and piled up earth to form Penglai Mountain. In the Han dynasty, Emperor Wu of Han still could not find the immortal mountains, so he ordered a large pond to be dug behind the Jianzhang Palace, named 'Taiye Pool', and piled up three hills in the pond to symbolize the three immortal mountains of Penglai, Yingzhou, and Fangzhang. Today, we can visit the green waters of the pond in Beihai Park, which accounts for about 56% of the total area of the park, and take a closer look at the Tuan City and Qionghua Island landscapes outside the south gate.
Tuan City was originally an island in the middle of the lake formed by the accumulation of mud from the excavation of the lake, known as 'Yuan Di'. During the Jin dynasty, a temple was built here. In the Yuan dynasty, a stone wall was erected, and 'Yuan Di' was changed to 'Yuan Cheng'. In the Ming dynasty, the stone wall was replaced with a city wall, and the temple was given its current name: Chengguang Hall. 'Yuan Cheng' was also changed to 'Tuan Cheng'. During the Qing dynasty, two major expansions during the reigns of Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong formed the current layout, and this small city with regular city walls became a miniature landscape in the royal garden. Its three main attractions are: the ancient Chengguang Hall and the white jade Sakyamuni sitting statue enshrined within; the Yuan dynasty jade carving masterpiece, the Jade Vase, in front of Chengguang Hall; and the ancient trees 'Zhe Yin Hou' and 'Bai Pao Jiang Jun' with lush foliage.
Qionghua Island is the biggest highlight of Beihai Park and the most dazzling part of the ancient garden architecture. It is a key area worth taking the time to explore in detail. Its main attractions include: the Tibetan-style White Pagoda located at the highest point of Qionghua Island and the Shanyin Hall in front of the pagoda; Yong'an Temple at the southern end of Qionghua Island; the Yue Xin Hall, Qing Xiao Lou, and Yue Gu Lou at the western end; and the stone stele inscribed with 'Qiong Dao Chun Yin' by Emperor Qianlong himself at the eastern end.
The northern end of Qionghua Island was originally occupied by the Yilan Hall restaurant, which has been opened to the public after being vacated and renovated, and is also one of the ancient building clusters in Beihai Park that reflects the characteristics of Chinese classical garden construction. Ying Tai is located in Zhongnanhai, and from the city tower of Tuan City, one can look far into the distance.
Warm tips:
Tuan City ticket: 1 yuan/person, half price for students, free for people over 60 years old.
Qiong Island scenic area cultural relics exhibition ticket: 10 yuan/person (including White Pagoda, Yong'an Temple, Yilan Hall), free for people over 60 years old.
Global Gastronomy
According to Ouyang Xiu's 'Huafangzhai Ji', it was built to resemble its name
'Huafangzhai' is located on the east coast of Beihai Park, adjoining the Hao and Pu in the south, and neighboring the Silkworm Altar in the north, hidden among the hills and forests. Huafangzhai was built in the 22nd year of the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty (1757) and was once an imperial palace. The main building of Huafangzhai faces south from the north, centered around a pond, with the Chunyu Lintang Hall to the south, and the Jingxiang and Guanmiao rooms to the east and west, respectively. Surrounded by a cloister, it forms a secluded courtyard, and the 'Huafangzhai' plaque was inscribed by Emperor Qianlong himself. Huafangzhai has a compact layout, exquisite architecture, and beautifully decorated beams and rafters, making it a 'garden within a garden' in Beihai. In the late Qing Dynasty, Empress Dowager Cixi often came here for leisure and to have meals served.

The ginseng is often still while the cloud ginseng moves, with fish leaping hidden and kites flying above
"Hao Pu Jian" is located on the east coast of Beihai Park. In the thirteenth year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty (1534), the Ninghe Hall was initially built here. In the twenty-second year of the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty (1757), it was expanded in the style of private gardens in the south of the Yangtze River to become the garden within the garden of Beihai, "Hao Pu Jian". Hao Pu Jian faces south with its back to the north, is 12 meters long from east to west, and 6.4 meters wide from north to south, covering an area of 77 square meters. To its south, there is a curved corridor leading upwards, extending to the top of the mountain, with "Chong Jiao Shi" to the east of the corridor, and "Yun Xiu" on the mountain top. Passing through the waterside pavilion and the winding bridge, entering the meandering valley, one can see the picturesque scenes of strange peaks, peculiar rocks, and the play of light on water and clouds everywhere, quiet and unique, with distinctive characteristics.

Beihai Park is a representative work of ancient royal gardens
"Beihai Park" is the oldest existing, most completely preserved, and most culturally profound classical royal garden in Chinese history. Centered around Beihai Lake, the Liao, Jin, and Yuan dynasties built their detached palaces here, and during the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was developed into an imperial garden. It was a royal garden in ancient times. Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty introduced the essence of gardens from the south of the Yangtze River, the literati's freehand brushwork, and the landscape gardens into the royal palaces, successively creating "gardens within the garden" such as Jingxin Zhai, Hua Fang Zhai, and Hao Pu Jian in Beihai. Many pavilions, terraces, halls, and towers were also built in the garden, and the White Pagoda built in the eighth year of Emperor Shunzhi's reign is the iconic building of the garden.

Food+view=Superb!
Beihai Park may be underrated destination to go to Beijing but should be added on the list of the go to's! Arrived almost 6pm and our first stop is the Oh Fine! Cafè and restaurant to have a taste of their famous souffle pancakes and indeed words cannot describe how good it was! Price is 68 rmb for all the souffle pancakes. There are more to enjoy in their menu such as burger, french fries, sandwiches, and etc. This is just located just outside the park.
As you get inside, there is a coffee shop with a very nice view of the park and the lake. We talked and didn't notice how late it was because the air and view is just sooo refreshing.
